This Osprey EDU (Everyday Utility) in 3/32″ skeletonized CPM154 with a Tapered Tang is handled in Double Dyed Maple Burl over Natural Micarta with Cherry Red Accent Liners and held together by a Natural Micarta Pin and Lanyard Tube. The flat ground primary bevel with a convex secondary on thin steel comes extremely sharp and ready to work.
The overall length is 6 3/8″ with a blade length of 3″. This is a good size for daily pocket carry of a fixed blade knife that does not have the pocket filling bulk of larger steel in an ISP sheath. The EDU is an excellent option for a utility work knife that is compact, lightweight but has enough blade and handle to comfortably complete most jobs.
Osprey EDU – Every Day Utility
Disposable utility razor blades have their place. They also have their limitations. Utility razors are flimsy and break easily. It really is not hard to snap one into pieces. The blades do come very sharp out of the package, but that keen edge quickly dulls with scoring a few lines on drywall. At the end of the day they are inexpensive and they are meant to be disposable and readily available. The costs do add up and it is an ongoing expense to use fresh and sharp utility razor blades on the job.
The Osprey Knife and Tool EDU was designed to provide a one time, upfront purchase, of a quality utility style blade. Made from premium stainless steel, the EDU takes a sharp edge and holds it for a long time with stropping before you have to resharpen. It will also be much harder to snap this blade and will certainly outlast many bulk packages of utility razor blades. There is more cutting length so you can do more with the EDU than your typical utility razor. An ergonomic handle on a handmade EDU comes in a variety of handle materials that stands out and provide an unique and one of a kind working tool that everyone will want to use at the job site.
Please Note: Sheaths are sold separately for all Osprey Knife and Tool knives. Let us know if you need a recommendation for a custom leather worker.
