Description(Last Updated On: October 6, 2019)
This compact OKT Mini Mamushi in 3/32″ skeletonized CPM154 with a Tapered Tang sports beautiful Flamed and Spalted Box Elder Burl over Natural with Black G10 Accent Liners. All held together with a Natural Micarta Pin and Lanyard Tube. Flat ground primary bevel with a convex secondary on thin steel makes for a mean cutter.
The overall length is 6 3/4″ with a blade length of 3 1/4″. This is a good size for daily carry in the pocket or on your belt. With the right pairing of cutting tools, such as a saw and axe, the mini Mamushi is more than enough for many camp chores.
A great small every day fixed blade, but big enough to be actually useful and comfortable to hold. Sheath sold separately, please see notes below.
The OKT Mini Mamushi Experiment
The OKT Mini Mamushi is an experiment in how far you can take an already popular everyday carry style knife and shrink it while still having enough blade length for a useful cutting edge and enough handle for a comfortable grip. Both a reduction in handle size and blade length, the Mini Mamushi drops 1 1/4″ of overall length from the larger Mamushi while still retaining a useable 3 1/4″ cutting edge.
The larger Mamushi with a 3 7/8″ blade is not that far off from the mini version, but that reduction in overall length makes a noticeable difference when pocket carrying. The shorter handle is also just long enough for a good hold for even larger sized hands. We find this to be an interesting model in the Osprey lineup and worth exploring as a great EDC fixed blade or smaller bushcraft or outdoor style neck knife.
Please Note: Sheaths are sold separately for all Osprey Knife and Tool knives. Let us know if you need a recommendation for a custom leather worker.
